Today’s project was writing Bible verses on the upstairs studs. Wow what a project that was. Imagine writing sideways on rafters that are sloping towards you. Ha!
Someone told me years ago they did it and I filled it away in the Remember for Future Use file. So glad I did!
This house has been built by Him, only fitting to have His word ‘built’ into it. Besides, there is something really cool with having the Word literally surrounding you.
Deuteronomy 11:18-21 “You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 19 You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. 20 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.
Some translations say ‘write them on the posts of your house’. Which I thought was really neat also.
After searching the Internet and the online Bible I had my list completed… I thought. Today I found more verses… and I do have some studs left upstairs…
I will admit I kind of cheated compiling them all. Did you know the online Bible Gateway allows you to put in a string of verses and it will pull all of them? Amazing!! I don’t know if there is a limit but I did 20 at one time. Then I did the ctrl-c/ctrl-v thing and pasted the whole thing into a new document on my phone to make it easier. The big girls went the more traditional route with an actual Bible. But they were only doing 3 verses…
Since this is the childrens bedrooms, my direction was verses for and about children, advice and blessings. My biggest problem is being limited to only 26, the number of rafter/wall studs.
The children even got involved. Each picking their favorite verse to write. Well a couple of them chose a story and just wrote the chapter and first verse.
This was one prep work project I loved doing!
