The Driveway Part 3 (or 4) – Day 1/7

I was so super excited to see I was not the only crazy dedicated person to sign on to this Blog Every Day for a Week linkup.  Apparently there are many slackers busy people in our midst!  Feel right at home.

I am going to take this opportunity to clear out the Draft folder and get everyone caught up to where we are currently. Sound good? Mkay, let’s go!

If you follow the Facebook page then you know last weekend we finally got a Top 10 Desperately Need/Want item crossed off-the driveway.

Oh yall,it was horrible

But now… oh now… it is beautiful. And smooth. And level.

We have a dear friend who has access to the big equipment. Boy did he come ready to knock it out with a whole crew! So blessed!

We used waste from a concrete plant. They have to pay to haul it away so usually give it away. It’s a mix of sand, cement and rock and gets super hard. It’s actually what was used when we redid the creek area and it worked very well. Until that 5″ rain. Even then it held up great until the makeshift culvert washed out of course. But please, let’s not relive that traumatizing event.

It’s not completely done yet. We still have to install the culvert, cover and build it up. Waiting for the dump truck again as it is going to take a lot more waste product to level that area out. It was so quick and easy with a dump truck and tractor, so not doing it by hand again. Twice is enough, we will wait, thank you very much.

The children even got to “help”.

We are so excited! No more getting thrown all over the place from all the ruts and bumps. Friends cars don’t scrape (yall hear me? Your excuse to not come visit, eliminated.). And no. More. Mud!

Glory glory!
