7QT – 5/3/13 Edition

Probably the most exciting news for the week – wait for it…  WE GOT THE ROOF!
Oh my word!  Who knew some metal would make us all so excited!  I could not be happier with the color or the service!  Metal Roof Supply in Jacksonville is the best!  He answered every question I had, walked me through every step.  All around wonderful customer service!

The plan (hope maybe is a better word) is to put it on this weekend.  I’m scared.  I’m nervous.  I don’t know if anyone will be able to come out and help… and given my issue with that pesky thing called falling… oh dear.  Add in the fact that it is supposed to be chilly with scattered showers…  I kinda have to laugh at God’s humor.  We have the funds (with $1 extra!  God is that good!), Mr. night shift was cancelled until next week so he is off this weekend… and weatherman is calling for cold, wind and rain.

Speaking of COLD in MAY!   What a lovely winter we’re having this spring.  Freeze warnings, winter weather watches, SNOW!  In the South – in May?!  Everything bloomed out weeks ago…  obviously that lying Groundhog actually meant Spring was gonna be 6 weeks late, not early.  Not that I am completely complaining.  This time last year we were tent camping and it was already in the 90’s with heat indexes into the 100’s!  As an added bonus – for the second year in a row, the severe weather season hasn’t been too horrible.  We only had to hide out a couple of times, and honestly those times it ended up not being too bad.  It does give us another year to get the storm shelter in, don’t want to press our luck too much.

We decided to grow some seeds in the window.  “Planted” on Monday, hypothesizes ranged from 1 day for the wheat (because it’s smaller) and popcorn (because it takes like 3 minutes for them to pop) all the way to 14 days for both.  Half had germinated by Thursday (4 days).  They just tickle me – checking multiple times per day, “racing” the seeds (who’s germinates first, who’s is bigger).

We had a day of rain before the cold front moved through.  No thunder and lightning (a rarity for sure!).  Which can only mean – {Singing} It’s a perfect day to be dancing in the rain.

 Confession time:  I am not always this cool of a mom.  To have 5 children play in the rain… another change of (wet!) clothes, wet towels… not exactly my idea of fun.  Yea, I know, a cooler mama would have joined them.  I’m getting there, I hope.

Our younger children reciting the Hail Mary…  “and bless us through the Fruit of Your Womb, Jesus” instead of “and Blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb, Jesus”.  It took quite a few times to understand what they were saying, and while we are in the stages of correcting it, I find it awfully cute.  And accurate when you think about it.

This is the last week for our first Life Group.  It has been so much fun and we have met a lot of really awesome people.  Kind of sad to see it come to an end but already looking forward to the next one {love!}
